[ What is a Photowalk..? ]

A photowalk is a great way of getting out, meeting other people and improving your photography.

It’s a way of exchanging ideas and seeing different places, as well as the opportunity to get some well needed exercise!

Whether your are interested in landscapes, street, architecture or other genres of photography, a photowalk can include some or all of these elements.

During a photowalk, you will generally have a ‘coordinator’ (usually the organiser), who will do a quick introduction, outline the plan for the walk and answer any questions you may have.
They are not a tour-guide or a photography teacher, but in most cases will have knowledge of the area and be an experienced photographer - so just ask if you do have any questions!

The walks are normally conducted over a pre-planned route and time schedule. There is however, no absolute fixed itinerary and you’ll find the group may split, stall and re-group as the natural instincts of people will mean you may dart off down a side street to capture a photo, or may spend longer in one place than another if it catches your interest.

Use a walk as an opportunity to try alternative photography techniques or equipment too as there’ll be people with an array of cameras, accessories, filters etc to play with.

There is a social side to these too and whether you choose to participate in the coffee or post-walk pub stop-off.. well, that’s entirely up to you. In our experience, this is a great way to have a proper chat and exchange your social media pages and photographic stories!!

The only way to really know if a photowalk is for you is to book onto one and give it a go… Ours are free (no membership needed) and with minimal outlay for film/processing and perhaps travel, you may well enter into a whole world of photography inspiration..
